The Fisheries Resources Survey and Evaluation Promotion Project (Eel Unit) Promotion Review Meeting was held on January 26.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 26, 2022, the promotion review meeting of the Fisheries Resources Survey and Evaluation Promotion Project (Eel Unit) (web) was held. The review committee included Associate Professor Hiramatsu of the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute of the University of Tokyo, the commissioned Fisheries Agency (Fisheries Resources Division: International Resources Team, Ecosystem Conservation Office, Environmental Planning Team; Aquaculture Promotion Division: Research Guidance Team, Cultivation Team) and 55 other participants from 35 universities and research institutes who reported on the results of research projects in fiscal year 2021. Reports were given on Japanese eel extinction risk assessment, resource management, population genetic analysis, Shirasu migration surveys, and ARGOS satellite tag surveys, and there was an active question and answer session. The research results will be used for domestic and international resource management of Japanese eel.
