A report meeting on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's research project "The Importance of Habitat Continuity in Rivers - Research on Impact Assessment and Conservation Measures for River Ecosystems" was held on January 28.
On the afternoon of Friday, January 28, 2022, a report meeting (web) was held by the River Erosion Control Technology Research and Development/River Ecology FS Research Group of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (research leader: Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama). Two members of the Chikuma River Office, four members of Nagano University, two members of the Nagano Prefectural Fisheries Experiment Station, and four members of Shinshu University attended the meeting, and presentations were made on research results for fiscal year 2021. At the meeting, reports were given on a survey of fish fauna using environmental DNA, a survey of fish populations before and after Typhoon Hagibis, a study on the development of a device for monitoring fish in fishways and its power source, a reconstruction of river flow in the Meiji era using the 1893 Chikuma River survey map, and a survey of aquatic insects. Based on the results of these studies, we will prepare plans for a five-year general research project starting next fiscal year.
