Abstract: For the sake of simplicity, we tend to see things statically, but in reality, natural ecosystems change dynamically, and it is difficult to grasp the true nature of natural ecosystems without considering the time axis. In particular, river ecosystems are very diverse, their physicochemical environment changes dynamically, and the organisms that live there undergo large seasonal migrations. In this seminar, I would like to talk about how the large-scale migrations of aquatic insects, shrimps, fish, and other organisms that I have studied so far affect river communities and biogeochemical cycles, and how the dynamics of water flow in floodplains, which change over large areas in response to fluctuations in river flow, shape biological communities.
