Students from Ueda Someyaoka High School visited the Institute of Freshwater Biology as part of their research activities!
On July 29, 2022, nine high school students from Someyaoka High School visited the Institute of Freshwater Biology as part of their research activities on the garbage problem in the Chikuma River and the creatures of the Chikuma River. Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama and Assistant Professor Sakie Kodama introduced the facilities and research, and it was an opportunity to talk about the fun of biology. They also collected and identified wild fish and other creatures in the waterways and ponds of the Institute of Freshwater Biology.
That day, they were also interviewed by Ueda Cable Vision and Shinshu Minpo. The broadcast on Ueda Cable Vision is scheduled for the evening of July 29.
As part of the high school-university collaboration, the Institute of Freshwater Biology is considering using the Institute’s excellent facilities to deepen collaboration between Nagano University faculty specializing in biology and ecology and high school faculty who are advisors to biology clubs and societies, and to provide a venue for local high school students to learn about biology.
