IFB

The research was reported in the September 3, 2022 issue of Shinshu Minpo as “Institute of Freshwater Biology Collaborates with JR East to Conduct Ayu Behavioral Experiment “Biologging Research”. Biologging is a method of attaching a small data recording device directly to an animal’s body to study the animal’s behavior and environment. JR East is taking steps to harmonize the river environment and water use with the ecosystem, such as environmental impact assessment of the Miyanaka Water Intake Dam on the Shinano River and maintenance and management of fishways, and is considering further cooperation with the Institute of Freshwater Biology.
