Chikuma River and Shinano River Research Group Gave Presentation at River Ecology Academic Research Society!
On Saturday, July 5, 2023, from 10:30 to 17:00, the 56th Parent Committee of the River Ecology Academic Research Society was held at AP Hamamatsucho (and online), where the Chikuma River and Shinano River Research Group gave a presentation on “The Importance of Habitat Continuity in Rivers - Impact Assessment and Conservation Measures for River Ecosystems”, led by Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama. The research will consider the hierarchical structure of rivers, including the main stream, tributaries, and irrigation channels, and will examine habitat fragmentation caused by river engineering at different scales, assess the impacts, and propose improvements to fishways. The group will present five topics, followed by lively discussions with the more than 70 study group participants.
