At the River Ecology Academic Research Presentation, the Chikuma River and Shinano River Research Group presented their research, and the River Ecology Academic Research Group handed over policy recommendations to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism!
On November 2, 2023, the 25th River Ecology Academic Research Presentation was held at the Tsukishima Social Education Hall in Tsukishima, Tokyo, with over 300 participants, including researchers, field engineers, and non-profit organizations, both in person and online. At the research presentation, the Nagara River Research Group, Chikuma River and Shinano River Research Group, Chikugo River Research Group, and Kano River Research Group presented research on project outlines, and many poster presentations were made by each research group. From the Freshwater Research Institute, the Chikuma River and Shinano River Research Group, headed by Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama, gave presentations by Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama, Associate Professor Sakie Kodama, and Researcher Alessandra Cera.
In addition, the Policy Recommendation Working Group, headed by Professor Yuichi Kayaba of the Parent Committee of the Academic Research Society of River Ecology (of which Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama is a member), prepared a policy recommendation entitled “Urgent Recommendations for the Conservation and Restoration of River Ecosystems under Recent Climate Change,” which was submitted to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism by Chairman Futoshi Nakamura.
