Research on tracking the spawning migration of Japanese eels presented on the Argos System website!
On December 19, 2023, the Argos website, operated by the French CLS/ARGOS, presented a study on tracking the spawning migration of Japanese eels using the Argos satellite, led by the Institute of Freshwater Biology.
Argos is a global satellite positioning and data acquisition system. CLS, a subsidiary of the French space agencies CNES (34%) and CNP (66%), is a global company founded in 1986 that provides global monitoring and surveillance solutions. The Fisheries Agency’s research project to track Japanese eels uses the ARGOS satellite system to obtain data on their spawning migrations.
