FY2024 National Sponsored Project Kick-Off Meeting Held!
On April 18, 2024, a kick-off meeting was held at the Fisheries Research and Education Agency Yokohama Office and online conference for the FY2024 Fisheries Resource Survey and Evaluation Promotion Commissioned Project, International Fisheries Resource Survey and Evaluation Project, and the Fisheries Resource Survey and Evaluation Promotion Project, International Fisheries Resource Dynamics Survey and Analysis Project (Subsidy) (hereinafter referred to as the National Funded Project). For the National Funded Project, a joint venture (JV) type organization has been established with the National Fisheries Research Institute, universities and other testing and research institutes, and they are divided into units to conduct research on resource assessment of various fish species (such as bluefin tuna). At the conference, research plans for each species were presented and there was a lively exchange of views. Among these, the eel unit, led by Professor Hakoyama Hiroshi of the Institute of Freshwater Biology, involves 35 testing and research institutes from all over the country and is conducting research that will contribute to international resource management of Japanese eel.
