We received a giant eel from the Chiba Prefectural Fisheries Research Center!

On Monday, May 27, 2024, Associate Professor Kodama and two technical staff members went to receive 45 eels from the Chiba Prefectural Fisheries Research Center, located on the shores of Lake Inbanuma in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture. The eels, nearly 1 meter in length, had been kept in an on-site experimental pond for several years. They are being used to study ocean swimming behavior and to develop satellite tags as part of a research project commissioned and subsidized by the Fisheries Agency.
