Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama and others visit Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology's Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute to discuss satellite tagging experiments!

On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama, Research Assistant Hiroyoshi Fujimori, and Research Assistant Ishmerai Galang of the Institute of Freshwater Biology visited the laboratory of Professor Katsufumi Sato of the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, University of Tokyo, to mount eels for experimental research on downstream eel tracking using satellite tags, which is being conducted as part of a research project funded by the International Resource Eel Unit of the Fisheries Agency, and to hold a research meeting.

The research on tracking eels using satellite tags is being conducted as a supplementary research project of the Fisheries Agency’s International Eel Resource Unit, led by the Institute of Freshwater Biology of Nagano University, in cooperation with the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute of the University of Tokyo, Kyushu University, Shinshu University, Miyazaki Prefecture, Kumamoto Prefecture, and the Fisheries Research Institute.
