The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism held a meeting of the upstream subcommittee of the Shinano River Basin Committee, and Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama attended as a member!

On Friday, July 26, 2024, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism held a meeting of the Upstream Subcommittee of the Shinano River Basin Committee of the Chikuma River River Office, and Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama of the Institute of Freshwater Biology attended as a member. An overview of projects in the upper reaches of the Shinano River system (Chikuma River, Sai River) (emergency flood control projects, etc.) was reported, and discussions were held on (1) the re-evaluation of the Chikuma River Direct River Improvement Project, and (2) the re-evaluation of the Omachi Dam Reorganization Project. Opinions were expressed based on expertise in ecology, biology, and the environment, contributing to the Chikuma River Office’s efforts in flood control in the river basin.
