Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama Gave a Public Lecture at the Ueda City Museum Lecture Series
On July 11, 2026, the second museum lecture organized by the Ueda City Museum was held at the Shinano Kokubunji Museum. The lecture was titled “From the Chikuma River to the World’s Eels: Challenges of the Institute of Freshwater Biology, Nagano University.”
Professor Hiroshi Hakoyama of the Institute of Freshwater Biology introduced the natural environment and freshwater organisms of the Chikuma River basin, the ecology and management of the Japanese eel, and research conducted by the Institute.
A question-and-answer session was held after the lecture, with participants showing interest in the nature and freshwater life of the Chikuma River basin.
